for Houseplant

In recent history, the world has largely neglected nature. We are building megacities, replacing green space with midrises, highrises and skyscrapers. In a desperate attempt to maintain a connection with nature, we have adopted houseplants to soften our manufactured living spaces. What if our built environment can instead become the planter?

Houseplant—an ethereal installation that is part sculpture, part garden—illustrates the potential for nature and architecture to live in harmony. Vegetation and curved vessels gracefully dissolve into one another, intertwining to, at once, provide shelter and sustenance.

Observed from afar or experienced from within, Houseplant invites people to reflect on mankind’s disruption of the natural world and question: could there be a better way? Could this be an elevated garden for public use? Your city's next bus stop? Your next home?

It’s time for architecture to incorporate nature —not replace it.
HousePlant is a building system a home for both humans and nature.
A home that provides shelter and sustenance.
A new vocabulary between then and now, between nostalgic and contemporary.
